A dunnage air bag(also known as an inflatable dunnage bagor cargo air bag) is a large, inflatable bag made from durable, pliable materials like multiple layers of heavy-duty paper (kraft paper) or plastic laminates.
Think of it as a heavy-duty pillow that you custom-inflate to fit an exact space. They are stored and transported flat, and are inflated on-site, just before or during the loading process.

Most common use.Prevents boxes and pallets from shifting inside standard 20ft or 40ft shipping containers, especially crucial for long sea voyages.

Palletized Goods in Trucks
|
Prevents individual pallets from toppling over during road transport. The bags are placed between pallets to unitize the entire load.

Less than Container Load (LCL)
|
Critical for stability.When multiple shipments from different suppliers are consolidated into one container, dunnage bags create stable walls between the unrelated cargo loads.

Preventing Side-to-Side Movement
|
In a truck or container, bags are inflated between the cargo and the side walls to prevent lateral shifting.

Stabilizing Irregularly Shaped Cargo
|
Effective for securing non-uniform loads (e.g., furniture, pipes, machinery) where the gaps are irregular. The bag conforms to the shape of the void.
